The Highland Lakes are seven reservoirs that step the Colorado River down 600 feet into Austin. Five are held at a constant level. Buchanan and Travis store the water, so they're the two that rise and fall.
One acre-foot ≈ 325,851 gallons.
LCRA keeps these lakes at the same level year-round. They only move when floodwater is passing through.
